For the 17th straight year, Irvine, California has been named America’s safest city. This is just one of the reasons why people are flocking to Irvine. Irvine was established in 1971 as one of the youngest cities in Orange County. The city was planned with families in mind and is one of the happiest cities in Southern California and fifth in the nation. Irvine has been known to have an abundance of parks and amenities, making it a great place to live and visit.

Irvine has 277 parks and counting, with new developments being built. One of the most iconic parks is the Jeffrey Open Space Trail, a 76-acre linear park that spans 3.5 miles in the heart of the city. It boasts beautiful meadows, woodlands and trails that offer visitors a chance to experience nature right next to their homes. In addition, art installations throughout the park celebrate 500 years of local history, while stacked-stone monuments and underpasses bring a national park vibe.

Much of North Irvine was built on the former El Toro Marine Base, which has been reimagined as the Orange County Great Park. It’s signature attraction is this iconic Orange Balloon, and with a focus on sports, agriculture and the arts, you’ll find world class athletic fields, soccer stadium, an ice rink arena which serves as a practice facility of the Anaheim Ducks, the Five Point Amphitheater which is a concert venue, and wild rivers water park among other attractions. All of this is in addition to the Great Park Neighborhoods, which is home to multiple unique residential communities. Irvine is one of the most desirable cities for outdoor life in California.

In addition to the parks, Irvine is great for families because of the schools. Irvine Unified School District is one of California’s best school districts with six high schools, 12 middle schools and 30 elementary schools. Irvine Unified schools are listed on the Best Schools in America report and have won the National Blue Ribbon Award 19 times.
